5 Tips to Achieve Efficient Fleet Management

Efficient fleet management can not only reduce logistics and transportation costs, but also protect the environment. With the rapid development of modern fleet management and digitalized roads, telematics can deeply understand the operation of drivers and vehicles, so as to make more cost-effective scientific decisions. What else can be done to achieve efficiency and reduce costs?

1. Reduce vehicle wind resistance coefficient
Most of the expenses are fuel consumption in terms of fleet management. There are many factors influencing the fuel consumption of trucks. People often focus on body weight, engine technology, transmission gear ratio, however, they often ignore the fuel consumption caused by air resistance. In fact, when a truck at a high speed, air resistance in the total driving resistance accounted for a very large proportion, far more than other factors caused by the drag, and the impact on fuel consumption is greater correspondingly.

2. Change the oil regularly
Regular oil changes can protect the internal parts of the engine and save on future repairs. Not only that, the condition of the oil will also affect fuel consumption. As the engine oil is decomposed, the lubricity gradually decreases, vehicle would generate more friction and heat, which leads to a decrease in engine operating efficiency.

3. Tire pressure maintenance
By keeping the tires at their normal PSI at all times, the vehicle will have much less drag and will save a lot of fuel.  In addition, the PSI decreases by approximately 1 for every 10 Fahrenheit drop.

4. Digital management
Digitization is another way to reduce costs and improve efficiency. It will reduce printing costs, paper costs, speed up workflows, reduce clutter and other unnecessary additional storage requirements, and create a more efficient operating team.

5. GPS tracker + Fleet visibility management
Accurate real-time positioning not only optimizes the driver's route, but also improves customer experience. When a customer calls to ask about a delivery, the fleet manager can use the tracking device to find out where the driver is and give a more accurate estimate of the expected delivery time. In addition, dashcam is used to manage drivers' driving behaviors, effectively prevent risks and regulate drivers' behaviors, and coordinate with the tracker to optimize route, achieving efficient scheduling and minimizing fuel consumption costs.
